Thanks for clicking the URL in my Twitter profile. This page is designed to give you a little information about who I am and what I do.
After earning an undergraduate degree in Advertising, I took a part-time job selling cable TV subscriptions over the telephone. I had a steady stream of freelance jobs, but needed a way to pay the bills while waiting for my big break with an agency.
I proved to be fairly adept at sales and quickly rose to the top of the performance charts. One day, the general manager tapped me on the shoulder and suggested I interview for a supervisor position being posted as part of the company’s expansion. I got the job and embarked on a career in management.
It soon dawned on me that there is more to being an effective manager than just telling others what to do. I became a student of leadership, soaking up everything I could on the topic. I read, went back to school for a Master’s Degree, and interviewed every leader I could get close to. But mostly, I learned from trial and error.
I began blogging in 2011 as a way to capture my thoughts on everything from customer service and sales to team motivation and performance management. Occasionally, I would share what I’d written with others and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. People told me they found comfort in knowing they weren’t alone as they tried to find ways to become more effective leaders. Today, my posts are read and shared by hundreds, if not thousand, of readers. It’s incredibly rewarding to know my experiences can be of value to others.
Speaking & Consulting
Over the years, I have often been asked to speak on topics such as leadership, teamwork, and organizational culture. Many have encouraged me to branch out into consulting on these topics as well. If you like what you see from me, I’d love the opportunity to put together a one-of-a-kind program for your organization.
